Swedish massage is the foundation for other types of Western massage, including Sports Massage, Deep Tissue Massage and Aromatherapy Massage. A Swedish massage can be slow and gentle, or vigorous and bracing, depending on the therapist think fit what he or she is trying to achieve. In all Swedish massage, the therapist lubricates the skin with massage oil and performs various massage strokes. These movements warm up the muscle tissue, releasing tension and gradually breaking up muscle "knots" or adhered tissues, called adhesions. Swedish massage promotes relaxation, among other health benefits. It is based on the Western concepts of anatomy and physiology, as opposed to energy work on "meridiens" or sen lines in Asian massage systems. Most people get a 50 or 60-minute Swedish or deep tissue massage, but 75 or 90-minutes gives the therapist more time to work the muscle tissue and achieve results.

Balinese massage uses a combination of gentle stretches, acupressure, reflexology, and aromatherapy to stimulate the flow of blood, oxygen and "qi" (energy) around your body, and bring a sense of well being, calm and deep relaxation. Balinese massage uses a variety of techniques including skin rolling, kneading and stroking, and pressure-point stimulation, combined with the aromas of essential oils. You will feel all kinds of wonderful after a Balinese massage: relaxed, refreshed, re-energized. You will probably smell fantastic after all those essential oils, applied on you. Deep tissue massage uses firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). It's used for chronic aches and pain and contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders. The deep tissue massage is unlike any other massage techniques. Most massage therapy techniques are quite gentle and are aimed at relaxing muscles, easing muscle pain and improving circulation with light hand movements. However, a deep tissue massage is a very intense technique. Instead of gentle strokes, it uses vigorous hand movements. Moreover, the therapist may not just be using her hands for the massage. To get maximum muscle activation, she would generally use the fingers or the palms. However, to activate deep muscles, she might even have to use her elbows.In fact they are quite slow, but the intensity of the pressure that is applied is quite high. Unlike other massage therapies, deep tissue massage can be intense and painful. However, many people who realize the benefits of this type of massage therapy prefer it over others. A candle massage is only done with candles made up of soy wax and cannot be done with the regular wax candles. Basically a candle which is made of soy butter also contains jojoba oil. The candle is melted and it secretes butter oil and not wax. It is not hot but at room temperature. They also add aroma oils for a soothing fragrance. One may get different flavors in our spa — such as strawberry, orange and chocolate. There is also a different flavor like lavender that aids in relaxation. The exotic candle massage is a light massage mostly preferred by women.

Let’s check out so much more to this centuries-old practice, and here are a few things you might not know about hot stone massage. The stones are strategically placed on trigger points along the body, or spots likely to experience pain and sprains. These areas can include the hand, toes, back, and neck. Some of these spots are considered to be the energy centers of the body. Muscles that are tight and tense are much harder to penetrate during a massage. By placing these stones along the tense spots in your body, the muscles are loosened and relaxed, thereby allowing your massage therapist to really heal, lengthen, and soothe those areas, without greatly increasing the pressure of the massage. Essentially, the warmed stones allow your massage therapist to do his or her job more readily and effectively while still maintaining your greatest comfort. The rocks we use are basalt stones, which have an exceptionally high iron content, allowing them to retain heat for much longer than a typical stone. Basalt stones are the most common type of volcanic rock, and the ones we use are very smooth and feel wonderful on the skin. Did you know that poor circulation can lead to increased tiredness, mental “fogginess,” and a weakened immune system? As the heat from the stones seeps deeply into your muscles, your blood vessels open, bringing about improved circulation. Body wraps or full body massage are like a facial for the body. Thanks to the amazing technology of the cosmetic world, there are many different types of wraps to target almost anything. From thoroughly basic cleansing and deep exfoliation to remove dead skin, moisturize and hydrate; to more high tech treatments for detoxing to remove wastes, water retention, firmness, reduction in cellulite, tired heavy legs etc. But no matter which wrap you choose, when experienced in a highly professional, true Day Spa with highly qualified therapists administering the treatment, you are guaranteed to feel a great sense of wellbeing and relaxation. In most cases, to get the desired results a course of treatments will be required, 1-2 a week over 12 sessions. What a way to spend each week! Of course, this type of treatment course has maximum benefits when used in conjunctions with a diet and exercise regime. How does a wrap typically work? This depends upon the Spa. How the treatment is experienced will vary but most follow a similar procedure with the exception being the type of equipment used, massaged that is administered during the treatment, and in some cases the mask is only applied to certain areas. (If you are doing a course for inch loss you will first be measured.) In saying this, all wraps should include a body exfoliation to remove the dead skin for more effective penetration of the mask to come. The exfoliant is then showered off and in more advanced Spa's a vichy shower is used to remove the exfoliant. The desired body mask is applied depending on the treatment or Spa's equipment. Your body will then be wrapped in a thermal blanket or encased in steam. Whilst you lay and relax, so do your muscles, your pores open and this encourages the sweat to flush out toxins. This process has a duration of about 20 min, the product is then removed. Your treatment will then be completed with a light rub applying moisturizer or a body massage if you wish. In some body wraps no heat is introduced as these wraps are self heating - amazing, yes! You can feel them bubbling, truly an amazing sensation.
